ABOUT COPPEROPOLIS

Copperopolis is within a comfortable driving distance from the Bay Area and Valley locations.  Visitors enjoy easy day trips to Yosemite National Park, Big Trees State Park, a number of lakes and two alpine ski resorts.

Lake Tulloch is a year around lake with both public and private access on its 55-mile shoreline in the Copperopolis foothills. Two restaurants on the Lake have marina access.  Dock and dine at Drifters Marina when it is opened for the season, or tie up at Lake Tulloch Resort and step ashore.

The historical “footprint” of Copperopolis is on Main Street close to the end of O’Byrnes Ferry Road and Highway 4, where early buildings still stand, including the Old Corner Saloon and McCarty’s store.

Copperopolis Elementary School, Copper Park, two fire stations, the post office and telephone company are located on Main Street.  A new middle school is planned for completion by 2012.  There are five churches in the Copperopolis area.

At the corner of O’Byrnes Ferry Road and Copper Cove Drive, the first shopping mall was built as Copper Cove Center. Today, professional offices, shops and restaurants are in the Center. This is also the location of the Copperopolis Branch Library.

Nearby, Lake Tulloch Plaza came to Copperopolis with an anchor grocery store. The Plaza has offices, shops, a restaurant, hardware store, bank and medical clinic.

Opened in March, 2008, the Copperopolis Town Square near Hwy 4 and Little John Road has spaces filled with local businesses, shops and restaurants. As a place for local families and visitors to gather, the Copperopolis Town Square offers year around on-site events.

At the beginning of year 2008, the population consisted of 1,503 housing units with 2,624 people living in the 78.9 square miles defining Copperopolis, all within the zip code of 95228.  Males and females are evenly divided, with a median age of 44.7.  There are 135 children under the age of 5 and 457 citizens over 65 years old.
